Marketing on Twitter Done Right

When you’re marketing on Twitter there’s some proper rules and guidelines that you need to follow.

Twitter is a tremendous site to be able to network and chat with people all over the world. Unlike Facebook, there’s a very limited space and ability to share info with people, so it’s important to captivate your audience from the start. Anyone can talk about what they are eating for lunch or what movies their watching but is that what’s going to capture peoples attention?

It’s important to put yourself in your followers shoes when you are tweeting. If you come across as being too pitchy or a spammer, you will not have success marketing on Twitter. The community will shut you out very quickly.

It’s okay to promote a business or website on Twitter as long as you use moderation and post valuable content. Make sure that the information you post is helpful to your followers. People are tired of hearing about the latest and greatest business opportunities and products.

When you’re marketing on Twitter don’t be too business orientated. Your followers will get tired of you very quickly if all you tweet is about business.

Make sure you share about what’s going on in your life, be personable, share quotes that interest you, retweet what others have to say, but most of all be yourself. Don’t try to be someone your not.

Since Twitter will only let you share snippets at a time it’s important to keep your content interesting. Telling your followers you’re eating, watching tv, or going to bed will bore them after awhile.

I’m not saying to never post about the small details or your life. Just balance these tweets with interesting ones as well.

Here’s a couple of good guidelines to follow when marketing on Twitter. Send out 5-6 tweets a day and only send out 1 business tweet for every 3 tweets that you post. So if you send out 6 tweets a day then keep 2 of them business orientated.

Following these guidelines will keep a healthy balance between your business tweets and personal tweets and your followers will be more likely to stay tuned with what you have to say.

Make sure you post your Twitter link on your website, blog, email signatures, and social media websites. The more places you post your twitter link, the more followers you will get. Remember that the more followers you have, the more people will see your messages.

It’s very critical to avoid using automatic Twitter services that offer bulk followers, repeating the same tweets, mass tweeting, mass following, and sending out tweets automatically from Twitter automated sites. These are quick ways to get your account banned.

There are some sites like Tweetlater, and Just Unfollow that are legitimate sites. Just make sure that if you are going to use these kinds of sites, do your research on them first to make sure they are legitimate.

The last thing that you want to have happen is to get your Twitter account banned. It’s so difficult to get it back.

You can generate a lot of prospects within your niche marketing on Twitter if you follow the proper rules of engagement.

Twitter is a tremendous resource to be able to create huge amounts of traffic and leads for any niche if used properly. Just following the proper rules of engagement and you could be the next Twitter sensation. Look out Ashton Kutcher!

When doing keyword research a lot of internet marketers feel that if they do basic keyword research that they will have a good shot at top search engine rankings. Unfortunately this isn’t true. This is the typical pattern that marketers follow when searching for keywords.

The first thing that marketers do is search for a specific keyword using a keyword tool such as Wordtracker or Google’s tool. The next thing they do is search for a keyword term. For this example let’s use the search term “keyword tool.”

If you use Google’s free keyword tool you’ll notice that the term “keyword tool” is searched 823,000 times a month.

Unless you have a killer website then it’s going to be very difficult to compete for this keyword. So what most marketers do is target a longer tail keyword instead. Let’s use the search term “keyword analysis tool search engine” for instance. This term is only searched 880 times a month.

So now that they realize that they might me able to compete for this keyword they go and research their competition in Google.

When they do research on the term “keyword analysis tool search engine” with quotes around the term they will see that there’s only 33,200 competing sites in Google. With this level of competing sites they think that there’s a realistic chance that they can rank on the first page of Google for this keyword.

Next they check Google to see if their keyword is profitable by checking the number of Google ads that show on the right side of the page.

So now they have a long tail keyword that’s profitable, searched a reasonable amount of times a month, and there’s not a lot of competition.

Now that they’ve done extensive research on this search term, they should rank on the first page of the search engines right? Wrong! This is where marketers end up failing and their competition is burying them alive.

There are a lot of other important steps that you need to take when doing keyword research. If you miss out on any of these other factors then you will miss out big time.

You are just wasting your time posting content online if you don’t know about your competition. Market Samurai will reveal all of these areas of competition to you and will save you countless hours of painful keyword research.
